Senior Building Specialist
Technical Consultant: Integral Consultants
Experience: 35 years plus
Steve has over 35 years in the construction field, many of which as a hands-on project manager in the restoration industry. He has the detailed experienced background to recognize and understand the condition of a property, whether residential, commercial or industrial.
Steve's career started in the 1970's as a carpenter working on residential and mill construction. In 1978 he moved with his family to Abbotsford to join the restoration industry. Steve had to determine what could be fixed and what needed to be replaced. With education and training, his role expanded to managing in-house crews and contractors and projects became more and more complex.
In 1990 Steve became one of the first in Western Canada to achieve the Certified Restorer advanced certification. This certification is the restoration industry's "elite" recognition for professional achievement. It is for demonstrated commitment to business ethics and for the successful completion of rigorous educational requirements in the restoration of residential and commercial property damaged by fire, smoke, water, vandalism and other disasters.
After a busy and rewarding career Steve decided it was time for a change. He received his Home Inspector license (No. 58359) on January 23, 2012. He successfully completed the Home Inspection Program at Douglas College. He also completed extensive field training and examination by members of the Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors (BC) Registered Home Inspectors. Steve also completed the Commercial Building Inspection course in April 2012 to be licensed to inspect commercial property which extends to industrial.
